You will…”Sleep No More”

“Sleep No More” is one of the hottest tickets in NYC at the moment and I am here to tell you – GO!

The basis of the production according to “Sleep No More” is as follows:  Completed in 1939, the McKittrick Hotel was intended to be New York City’s finest and most decadent luxury hotel of its time. Six weeks before opening, and two days after the outbreak of World War II, the legendary hotel was condemned and left locked, permanently sealed from the public. Until now…Seventy-two years later, EMURSIVE has brought the Grande Dame back to life. Collaborating with London’s award-winning PUNCHDRUNK, the legendary space is reinvented with SLEEP NO MORE, presenting Shakespeare’s classic Scottish tragedy through the lens of suspenseful film noir. Audiences move freely through a transporting world at their own pace, choosing their own path through the story, immersed in the most unique theatrical experience in the history of New York.

I have gone twice now and am already sorting out my third visit to the hotel.  It feels like a surreal dark dream constantly keeping you in suspense.  And this is not just a show to watch, you are involved too!  I do not want to tell you too much because the mystery of not knowing “what’s going to happen next” is what makes it so exciting.

My advice – in the beginning, take a little time to see some of the rooms.  The hotel is quite large and they did an incredible job creating it.  Eventually you will see unmasked characters running around with other masked guests following them – JUMP IN!  Start following the characters and if you don’t feel drawn to one, go find another.  They will take you on an incredible journey.  For the ultimate experience, go by yourself – I think you will be much more involved this way and not constantly worried about trying to locate your companion. Trust me.  The best part, everyone has a completely different experience and you learn more each time you go.  It becomes addicting.

This show is not for everybody.  Let’s put it this way, if the movie “Eyes Wide Shut” makes you uncomfortable – do not go.  If the movie intrigues you, making you wish you could jump through the tv screen – this show is meant for you.  Bisous NYS
