“RAPTURE” Tastes So Sweet – Styling the Video
Thank you to the great presence of Nadia Ali fans taking a peak at the Styling of “Pressure!” You made me realize I must post about the hit of all hits in dance music – “Rapture (Avicii Remix).” With over 12 MILLION views of the video just from youtube channels, I knew I needed to fill you in IMMEDIATELY!
This was such a momentous video to help create and style. The iconic song has been ringing through our ears since since 2001 and to create a video that would match the level of success of the song was quite nerve-wracking, but I think we succeeded. The whole basis of the storyline was to start with “Nadia” and transition her more and more into the “The Queen of Clubs” through each scene.
As much as I love all the scenes, I would have to say my favorite was putting Nadia in the black latex catsuit (from The Baroness) with long hair and cat eyes. The fierce look brought focus to her dance moves and the director (Neverland Productions) took it to another level with the reverse cinematography and multiplied dancing Nadias.
Although I must admit, the final queen scene was also creatively stimulating to style because I was able to transform Nadia into modern royalty. Thanks to the talented hair stylist (Rowena Hiraga) and makeup stylist (Maggie Thach), we were able to give her a big majestic updo and regal makeup, covering part of her face with lace reminiscent of the Renaissance. I also loved the ruby encrusted finger ring by Bijules (www.bijulesnyc.com), arm chains by Bliss Lau (www.blisslau.com) and gown by Jovani Couture.
Another thing you might notice is that we only use the colors Red, Black and White for Nadia’s wardrobe. The reason for this is that a playing card is represented by these colors and since she is the “Queen of Clubs” – there is no better way to display her. You can also see this in her “Queen of Clubs Trilogy” Covers which I also styled (with the help of the fab Wayne Harris) and have attached to this post.
Since I know you are DYING to watch the video again, I have attached the link for the video as well as the in-depth behind the scenes. I feel so lucky to have been the Creative Director and Stylist on these projects. I hope you enjoy it! Bisous NYS

It’s always amazing to see Nadia on-screen, her presence is so powerful and confident, yet graceful and feminine. And each transformation is even more daring than the next. Great work on styling Nausheen and a fabulous insight into how it came together! That final dress: WOW. Nadia, we bow down to thee! All hail the Queen <3
