NoMad Restaurant
Having only opened up in Mid-March, New York Restaurant NoMad is flying high and taking reservations…that is if you can find a way to get in before July, but I guess that should be expected when your team hails from 3 star Michelin Restaurant Eleven Madison Park along with the latest named Outstanding Chef by the James Beard Foundation, Daniel Humm. Oh yes, you can only imagine the games their cuisine plays with your tongue.
Upon entering the restaurant, it’s as if you have been transported back into an old, luxe world. The grandiose setting is spread out into approximately 5 rooms, all stacked in forms of sapphire and scarlet velvet seating, Persian rugs and Mahogany wood. That is unless you stroll on in to the library where you are surrounded with a variety of literary objects – some of which could be deceiving. Let’s just say while you may be enjoying a cocktail stirred by an expert mixologist, you might also be able to find a little extra somethin’ somethin’ hidden in a nearby book to make your drink a tad bit stiffer. Two of NoMad’s potions that left me yearning for more were “Paris is Burning” and “Hot Lips.” Fitting isn’t it?
But before you completely obliterate your taste buds, take a seat in the opulent dining room and treat yourself to a dish you will remember forever. In fact it is so good, they made a special beer to pair with it called “Le Poulet.” Have you figured it out yet? Known as “Chicken for Two,” this tasty, crispy skinned bird is stuffed with brioche, foie gras and truffles. I mean…
Other heavy hitters: Egg poached with Asparagus, Quinoa & Parmesan – Tagliatelle with King Crab, Meyer Lemon & Black Pepper – and one of the most ridiculous desserts ever created, Milk & Honey consisting of Shortbread, Brittle & Ice Cream.
