Finding Your Vintage LV Trunk
You asked for it so here it is – Where and How to pick your perfect, vintage Louis Vuitton trunk.
The LV trunk is one of the first ever branded luxury items sold in history. Yes you can invest in art, but you can also invest in an LV trunk. You will only make more money back when you sell it!
The most important part is finding a trustworthy dealer. I bought my trunk from Trunks NYC. I highly recommend them! Other options are Mantiques Modern (also of of my fav vintage furniture spots) and 1st Dibs. I also recommend checking Craigslist and Ebay. Just make sure to check the details closely or have the trunk authenticated at an LV dealer so you get your moneys worth.
For instance, my trunk is from the 1890′s due to the zinc bottom which served as waterproofing for high water travel during this time. I also have stamps from Japan and Singapore on the sides which would also confirm this. The checker pattern on the outside has the Louis Vuitton signature as well as each metal stud on the trunk. Also the inside has the vintage LV label.
I chose to use my trunk as a coffee table. Therefore, I took the measurements of the top and ordered a customized piece of glass at a great deal from Dulles Glass and Mirror. I bought felt circles to place under the glass to keep it from budging.
I do also love Vintage Goyard trunks – LV’s luggage competitor back in the day claiming to be the originator of the luxury travel trunk. Either way, they are both beauts! Bisous NYS
