When it comes to Fashion Week, many of you might think designers shows only consist of elongated catwalks with models strutting their stuff back and forth while spotlights follow as shadows and a fusion of different harmonies set the mood. BUT there is actually another way designers show off their coveted creations – Presentations.
Presentations are just as common as runway shows. They give a designer more time to display their collections, usually running 2-3 hours as oppose to the quick 3 minute catwalk slot, allowing more buyers/media to slip in before running off to their next gig.
Milk Studios is one of the hotspots not only for runway shows but also for collections of all sorts ranging from jewelry to clothing to shoes. Last Saturday, I was able to peruse through the collections of Anndra Neen, Dean Quinn, Alejandro Ingelmo and Ostwald Helgason with my favorite team at Ahalife.
The sister duo at Anndra Neen brought strong metal must-have accessories to the table combining a Medieval Armour feel with a French Antique touch – right up my alley. Northern Irish designer, Dean Quinn, ablazed with electrifying cobalt blue and orchid magenta tones formulating shift dresses and gowns with zipper detailed slits. Alejandro Ingelmo excited the male species with his fur-lined mens sneakers. He instead offered a fur-lined leather wedge for all of us women who prefer height over comfort. Yes that would be me. And last, but certainly not least, the talk of the night was newcomer Ostwald Helgason who’s primary color wheel collection knocked the socks off editors with their volume filled cocktail dresses, animal-print sweatshirts, ruffled miniskirts, and printed coats.
I always love the vibe at Milk Studios. It just oozes fresh artistry to the world. I will be adding my after-parties from this night a little later. À tout à l’heure - Bisous NYS
