Courrèges for Ahalife

A momentous day sprung upon us last week in the fashion industry.  One of my favorite luxury  e-comm sites, Ahalife, paid homage to thee fashion icon of  the 1960′s - André Courrèges.

So who is André Courrèges you ask?  Besides for holding an apprenticeship with Balenciaga for 10 years, claiming fame for the invention of the miniskirt as well as predicting and creating our “second skins” otherwise known as tights, this French man is one of fashion’s greatest innovators.

Ahalife teamed up with Nylon Magazine’s Editor at Large, Dani Stahl, to curate one of Courrèges greatest contributions to the fashion world – the “Space Age” Collection where the predominate choice of material was plastic.

For the first time in 20 years, we can all now own a piece of Courrèges thanks to Ahalife.  Curator Dani Stahl and Ahalife front women Shauna Mei and Tara Dhingra launched a mini collection at the Vinatta Project last Monday.  Dowsing us in hues of acid yellows and reds along with tradition blacks and whites, the standout piece from the collection is the Signature Courrèges Vinyl Jacket.

When Dani and I discussed color preference for the jacket we both agreed all colors to be fab, but you can never go wrong with classic, timeless black.  It seems the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree as her mother was sporting the designer’s original vinyl jacket design from the 1960′s.  I must admit it was quite endearing seeing the then and now.

Go to Ahalife to check out all the pieces from the collection.  Bisous NYS
