American Cowgirl
What do you do when the wall you planned on utilizing for your 4th of July styling post has disappeared? Go to Plan B. Problem is… what is Plan B?
Well lets start from the beginning – First of all – Happy 4th of July weekend to all my fellow Americans! Our favorite time to get decked out in patriotic colors and show them off in our own special way. For me that usually leads to a nautical look but this year, I decided to be an all American Cowgirl. Yee-haw!
BUT my perfect plan was quickly rebuffed upon my arrival. Retna’s red, white and blue mural on Bowery’s famed graffiti wall was gone. In fact, it was painted over that same morning. Yup – just my luck. The captivating mural contained Retna’s own original alphabet, fusing together influences from ancient Incan and Egyptian hieroglyphics, Arabic, Hebrew, Asian calligraphy, and graffiti which he used to display a dialogue that the artist himself experienced. Pretty cool – huh? At least it was..
So quickly I had to come up with a ‘Plan B.’ Luckily on one side, there was an “Army of One” graffiti piece still in my color scheme. Ok done. But then I thought, why not jump on this tractor they used to paint the wall and be a ‘Real CowGirl’ – Mission Accomplished. Happy 4th y’all - Bisous NYS
